I'm walking! Auntie Amanda was right, it didn't take long after I started standing on my own. Now I'm not a baby any more ... I'm officially a toddler!

OK, I know I'm not exactly proficient yet, but still, is it nice for mommy and daddy to start talking about Frankenstein's monster every time I try out my new skills?

Just give me a few days. Then I'll be able to get in as much trouble as I want and make a quick getaway before mommy and daddy catch me in the act. And when they interrogate me, I'll just blame the cats.

"My God, Professor! It walks!"

"It's a baby, Jim. But not as we know it."

That's just great, Dash, I'm impressed!!! But aren't Mommie and Daddy just a wee bit annoyed that now they will have to keep everything in the house super neat and organized at all times so I don't stumble and fall?

I knew what you meant ... but do you really think mommy and daddy will keep the house clean for me? They just say it's good practice for me to learn to walk in an obstacle course!

When you say the man, uncle Mike, are you referring to a guy named "Mr. Nike?" Because I heard my Mommy and Daddy talking about sending me out to work for him when I turn 3....Apparently, I'm not making enough from my modelling career to keep them in the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed.

Trouble is that I heard on the baby grapevine that you don't even need to be walking to work in some of their factories. So your suggestion won't do me much good. If you really want to help me, you can liberate me from my exploitive parents, or at least call CAS!

WOOOOHOOOOO!!!

GO DASH!! I knew it wouldn't be long. It's so cool how much a baby changes in one year.

Don't listen to mom and dad when they call you Frankenstein's monster, my little man. That would make *them* Frankenstein (which come to think of it kind of fits..) I can't wait for you to get the walking *and* running thing down pat. Your parents won't know what's hit them ;)

And when they interrogate me, I'll just blame the cats.

Good man.

You mean they're like Frankenstein because they created a monster? What a thing to say, Auntie Brat! Of course, just as soon as I get the walking/running/climbing thing down, I'm sure I'll make the switch from "best baby in the world"* to trouble-making monster!

*Or at least the northern hemisphere. I hear little Mitchell has taken my crown away from me. :-(

Yes, my mum and daddy called me Frankenbaby too. They still do every time I open my eyes wide and reach for their faces with both hands.

Congratulations, Dash. Let's take a run together sometime. I'm hoping to see Toronto for the first time at the end of May.

Guess what? I turn 18 months old on Sunday!

Your cousin (sort of),

Athena

Happy birthday cousin Athena! Somehow, you always seem to be just a little ahead of me, hmm.

Will we really get to see you and your mommy and daddy sometime soon? Will you come and stay with us? I can't wait to have a playmate my own age (almost) at home!
